Api Himal (7,132m) is the highest mountain in far-western Nepal and one of the most remote and least-climbed 7,000-meter peaks in the Himalayas. Located within the pristine Api Nampa Conservation Area near the Tibetan border, the mountain offers a true exploratory expedition experience through untouched valleys, traditional mountain villages, alpine forests, glaciated terrain, and dramatic high-altitude landscapes.

This 36-day expedition begins in Kathmandu before traveling to western Nepal via Dhangadhi and Gokuleshwor. The trekking approach gradually ascends through remote settlements, terraced farmlands, dense rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, and glacier valleys to Api Himal Base Camp at 4,000 meters. The climbing phase involves multiple acclimatization rotations and the establishment of higher camps on steep snow, glacier, and mixed alpine terrain before the final summit attempt.

The standard route requires strong physical fitness and previous mountaineering experience, including the use of crampons, fixed ropes, ascenders, and ice axes. Climbers must be prepared for glacier travel, crevasse crossings, steep snow slopes, and high-altitude expedition conditions.

In addition to the climbing challenge, the expedition provides a rare opportunity to experience the untouched culture and traditional lifestyle of far-western Nepal, far from the more commercialized trekking regions. Combining technical climbing, remote wilderness, and authentic Himalayan culture, the Api Himal Expedition offers a unique and rewarding adventure for experienced mountaineers seeking a true Himalayan expedition.
