The Arun valley, Salpa Pass located between Sagarmatha and Makalu-Barun National Parks, One of the challenging routes of trekking is Salpa pass treks(3350,m), Offered by Passages Nepal in Nepal. The Salpa Pass trail is an interesting walk into the Everest region following the Arun Valley. provides really superb views of both Mt Everest and Mount Makalu and hundreds of other surrounded views of snow capped mountains to the north. This trekking trail is known as an antique trade route used by local people to transport agricultural products to Namche Bazaar to Tibet across via the Nangpa la pass. Salpa pass is situated in the Makalu region just above Arun valley towards Lukla.

This route has a unique ecology and geography that passes toward the holy lake called Salpa Pokhari. Salpa Pokhari is a pilgrimage site for people of different religions and cultures, especially the Kirants, who believe that the lake is an equivalent of Ganges River in India. At an altitude of 3350 meters. The highest point of this trekking route is Salpa Bhangyan 3800m. and Salpa Kharka the highest campsite 3600m. We can have a view of Mera peak 6,476m, Everest 8848 m, Makalu 8481m, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Pumari, Mera Peak 6468m and so many mighty peaks above the terrace field. Makalu national park also falls under this trekking route so this is also called the main gate to Makalu Barun National Park. Which is full of tropical forest habitats of wild diversity of fauna species. There are 315 species of Butterflies and 88 species of mammals. So this land is the place of natural diversity.

The route follows the same ground, albeit in reverse as H.W. Tilman on his approach to the Khumbu Valley in the autumn of 1950. Culturally, the Arun trek is very interesting - moving from Sherpa through to Rai villages, then down to Brahmin and Chhetri villages. Despite the chain of basic lodges, impromptu lodgings can be found in keeping with traditional hospitality throughout Eastern Nepal. Salpa Pass trek begins in Tumlingtar and follows the Arun River until we turn into the Irkhu Khola valley, renowned for its natural paper products.
