Upper Mustang which is famous for both Buddhist and Hindu religion followers, Situated in the rain shadow of north of the Annapurna range of High Himalayas. The Upper Mustang trek brings you into the hidden world of the old Buddhist kingdom of Mustang, also called Lo. Lo used to be part of the Tibetan empire and is therefore closely tied to Tibet in culture, language and geography. a place different from the rest of the world. The wall city of Lo-manthang used to be a part of the Tibetan kingdom of Gungthang until the 1830s. The early history of Lo-manthang is embellished in myths and legends rather than the recorded facts. Even though the upper Mustang is changing it still surprises the visitors with its stunning vista and the stubborn way it clings to its unique culture.

It is believed that Guru Rinpoche had fought with demons among the Mustang’s snow capped mountains, desert canyons, and grassland. Once Guru Rinpoche killed the demon, it is said he scattered the demon’s body parts across Mustang valley. Consequently its blood formed the towering red cliffs and its intestines tumbled near Ghami where people have later on built the stone prayer wall. Thus the longest prayer wall in Nepal, on top of the demon’s intestines.
