Lord Baden Powell Peak, locally known as Urkema Peak, was renamed Lord Baden Powell Peak (5,718m) in 2007. It is a mushroom-shaped mountain situated in the Langtang region, offering a perfect alternative to Imja Tse or Island Peak in the Khumbu region. Viewed from the southwest, Baden Powell Peak bears a striking resemblance to Ama Dablam, which is situated in the Everest region. It is surrounded by majestic peaks such as Langtang II, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Shishapangma in Tibet. The peak was named after the father of the Scouts movement by the Nepal Government to mark the centenary celebration of the International Scouts Movement.

Baden Powell Peak (5,890m) is one of the popular peaks to climb in the Langtang region because it is easily accessible and not very expensive (Royalty Free Mountain). Situated on the border with China, it offers a perfect view of Langtang II, Langtang Lirung (7234m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m), and Shishapangma (8013m) in Tibet, providing a great experience of mountaineering in Nepal.

Still away from other trekking peaks, the trail to Baden Powell Peak is off the beaten track. Villagers you will pass are mostly Sherpa and Tibetan and still living in poverty, unknown to modernization. The geographical structure, culture, and traditions of people from your starting place to the ending place are totally different. Their language, caste, living style, and facial structure everything seems so different.
