Upper Mustang to Nar-Phu via Teri-La 5595 m. Pass trek through two of the restricted and remote regions in Nepal. Offers the trekkers a chance to explore the Breathtaking Valleys, Medieval Villages, Ancient Caves, Centuries Buddhist Monasteries, Arts, and culture of local people. This remote and challenging trek is a newly explored and open destination near the Annapurna Mustang “The Last Forbidden Kingdom Of Nepal'' which is a fascinating ancient kingdom that was semi-independent from Nepal until not long ago. The region follows the route of Nar and Phu Valley which lies to the east of the Annapurna Circuit. The exploration and walking along ancient salt trade routes over a high pass to Upper Mustang is followed by the wilderness of Teri-La 5595m Pass which connects Upper Mustang with the secluded Nar and Phu.
Start by heading up the Nar Khola (River) Valley, which is sparsely populated. The valley gets narrower as you get deeper in. Before crossing over Teri-La the trail passes through pine forests and overhanging cliffs and waterfalls and towering rock faces as it continues to climb, all the way up to the village of Phu 4080m. From there we will have stunning views of the surrounding valley. Continuing our trail towards Nar, which is the second main village of the area, which is a bit more lively than Phu. Due to the altitude crossing the Teri La, it will be long and challenging. But, the sense of accomplishment will be great, and from there you will descend down into Upper Mustang.
Trekking to Lo Manthang, the old capital of Upper Mustang and once the seat of the Mustang kings. The incredible town with mud-brick walls, prayer flags fluttering everywhere, and simple Buddhist chortens reminds visitors of old Tibet. Leaving behind Lo Manthang, there is only a day of trekking left, because for the final stretch of the route you drive to Jomsom. The area has become much more accessible due to the recent construction of a road:). Spending and celebrating the last day of the trip with the entire supporting crew, we will have our overnight in the Jomsom Hotel. Next early morning we will grab our flight back to Pokhara and connect flights from Pokhara to Kathmandu depending on per scheduled Itinerary.
