Lumba Sumba Pass 5117m Trek is the ideal trek to enjoy spectacular mountain views and learn something about village life in eastern Nepal. The Lumba Sumba Pass trek opened in 2012. Located East of Nepal between Mt. Kanchenjunga 8586m. (3rd Highest Mountain) and Mt. Makalu 8485m. ( The 5th Highest Mountain) Following the path of GHT trails and passing 5117m High Lumba Sumba Pass is a relatively unknown and unexplored hidden trek. The trek connects the Kanchenjunga region and Makalu region via the Lumba Sumba Pass and runs through the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area and the Makalu Barun National Park in the eastern part of the country. Lumba Sumba Peak (5,300m) is another highlight of this trek which includes the spectacular snow-capped Himalayan landscapes of Mt. Makalu and Kanchenjunga ranges. Endangered wildlife such as the snow leopard and red panda; the base camps of Mount Kanchenjunga and Mount Makalu, and major river systems. With the huge variety of landscapes and natural beauty, and its sometimes harsh and less-than-good condition trails, it is no surprise that this is a strenuous trek, therefore it is recommended people tackling this trek have prior experience. While the majority of the trek passes through scattered pockets of human habitation in the form of different ethnic villages (Limbu, Gurung, Tamang, Sherpa, Rai); cultural heritage; monasteries, markets, and schools, there are days when trekkers are completely alone in the wilderness, particularly on the most difficult day – when they cross through the Lumba Sumba Pass 5117m. Due to weather conditions, To cross the pass, it is very difficult to cross so the day starts very early, in the afternoon. To add a new excitement to the journey during the trek we will also have close-up sightings of snow leopards, which would certainly After crossing the pass and hiking through the Arun Valley we will have an opportunity of Bird watching to spot several unique and rare species.
NOTE: Lumba Sumba Pass can be done in one of two directions: Starting in either Kanchenjunga or in Makalu.

Way Up:-
- Kathmandu to Bhadrapur by Air
- Bhadrapur to Taplayjung by private four-wheel Jeep ( 7. pax max per jeep).
- Taplayjung to Lumba-Sumba and over to Makalu (By Mule or Porters) as per the scheduled itinerary.
While returning:-
- Num to Khandbari by private four-wheel Jeep (6. pax max per jeep).
- Khandbari to Kathmandu (by Air) as per itinerary.
- Trekking Sherpa Guide: Highly experienced government-licensed trekking Sherpa Guide during the entire trekking period
- Insurance: Medical & Emergency rescue Insurance for all involved staff during the trekking period.
- Trekking Route Map. A Trekking Route Map will be provided.
- Accommodation: Accommodation at the best possible hotel/lodge/guest house during the entire trekking period.
- Member Luggage: Up to 15.Kg per member for personal baggage during the trek carried by Porters/Mules.
NOTE: Baggage more than 15.Kg p/p will be charged additionally with the appropriate cost.
- Lodging & Fooding: 3 meals a day (BDL, including tea and coffee) along with accessible accommodation at Hotel/Lodge/Tea house/Camp during the trek and Basecamp. Well-managed base camp set up for members & Staff during the trekking period.
- Camping Equipment: Required necessary Camping, Toilitte, and kitchen equipment including members' Tents VE-25 The North Face shearing basis (2.member 1 Tents) or similar to that will be provided
- Porter: Required numbers of porters till Kanchenjunga B.C & while returning back. NOTE: 1. Porter for two members (25. kg max) will be provided.
- Staff Salary and allowance: Equipment allowances and wages for all Nepalese staff & porters, daily wages, Trekking Sherpas Guide, Cooks, and Kitchen assistant, including equipment, food & clothing as per program.
- Communication: Radio Walkie Talkie and Thuraya Satellite phones carried by a guide for emergency communication. (SAT Phone available to clients at a cost of $5. USD per minute).
- Comprehensive Medical Kit Bag: A comprehensive medical kit Box will be provided for basic use only.
- TAX and Office Charges: Our service charge and government Taxes.
- Airfare: International flight airfare (from and to Kathmandu).
- Nepal entry Visa fee: Nepal Visa fee is US$ 60 per person for 30 days (to be applied for 60 days (USD$ 120).
- Sightseeing: Sightseeing around historical monuments and entrance fees.
- Extra night in Kathmandu and Lunch & Dinner: Extra night accommodation and Lunch & dinner during the stay in Kathmandu In case of early arrival or late departure, early return from Trekking / Expedition (due to any reason) than the scheduled itinerary.
