Mount Manaslu, located on the borders of Nepal and Tibet, is home to one of Nepal's most challenging and renowned trekking trails—the Manaslu Trek. This trek offers awe-inspiring views of some of the world's highest mountain peaks and takes trekkers through traditional villages characterized by Hindu and Buddhist religious settlements.
The Manaslu Circuit Trekking trail commences at the lower-altitude point of Soti Khola and gradually ascends to the formidable Larkya La pass at 5125m. Along the way, trekkers can marvel at panoramic views of snow-capped mountain ranges, including Mt. Manaslu and Ganesh.
The journey unfolds amidst picturesque landscapes, verdant countryside, lush forests, and stunning vistas of colossal glaciers. Designated as a restricted area, the Manaslu Circuit Trekking trail mandates a minimum of two trekkers and a registered local trekking guide for exploration.
The trek's duration can be customized to fit different preferences, ranging from a 10-day Lower Manaslu trek to a 21-day adventure with a captivating side trip to Tsum Valley. Each itinerary includes rest days in Sama Gawn and Samdo to facilitate acclimatization. During these rest days, trekkers have the option to undertake side trips to Manaslu Base Camp, Punggyen Gompa, or even a day hike towards the Tibetan border.
It's important to note that Dharamsala, the village following Samdo, is a temporary settlement open only during the non-winter season. Its closure indicates the imminent closure of Larke Pass, which typically occurs during the winter months.
