A powerful and inspirational moment unfolded today in the heart of the Himalayas, as a remarkable Father and Son duo successfully reached the summit of Mt. Lobuche East (6,119m), marking a historic milestone not only in mountaineering but also in the global movement for Autism Awareness and Inclusion.
Beginning their summit push at 1:30 AM from High Camp, the team stood on the summit by 6:45 AM local time, surrounded by pristine views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Pumori. The climb, taking approximately 11 hours round-trip (High Camp–Summit–Base Camp), was a test of endurance, resilience, and shared purpose.
This ascent is part of their broader initiative, “Soaring Above Everest 2025,” a pioneering campaign to raise awareness for individuals on the Autism spectrum through high-altitude mountaineering. Following a successful summit of Kyajo Ri (6,186m) on October 29, 2024, the son, an extraordinary young climber on the Autism spectrum, now becomes the first known individual with Autism to summit both Kyajo Ri and Mt. Lobuche East, setting a new precedent in adaptive adventure sports.
